The Yamaha RAV-2000 is a customized version of the Pronto TSU2000 with different hard buttons and case design, plus a completely revamped user interface. Yamaha's RAVedit software can be used for PC-based remote configuration.

Strengths:

Ergonimic (kind of), Good screen resolution, Power and Standby buttons allow you to power your system on and off with out having to go to a special page, and computer customization that can make this remote extremely intuitive.

Weaknesses:

Computer customization that, in the wrong hands, can make these remotes horribly un-intuitive (just look at some of the CCF files available on the web and you'll know what I mean.). Programming software is exactly the same as the Pronto's which means is is a bugger to program intelligently.

Review:

All in all I think this remote is excellent. It is basically a Pronto with a facelift. The major differences between the two, which makes me favor the RAV-2000 over a Pronto, is the Power and Standby buttons. My clients apperciate not having to sift through macro pages just to turn their system on or off. If programmed right, every one from the 14 year old babysitter to the elderly grandmother can operate an entire racks worth of multimedia gear.

Strengths:

good build quality, durable. Decent battery life. Sleek looks. As with the pronto, its easily costomizable.

Lack of a docking station.

Review:

As an audio/video sales person, and a programer for remotes, ive found that the yamaha is most fun to program, use and own. I've never had a problem yet and am not anticipating one in the near future. Its been droped many times sadly but is a trooper. I highly reccomend this remote above all other non-color touch screen remotes. This remote will take some work to make completly costimized but its worth it.

Strengths:

Exactly the same as the pronto 2000. Better look and feel in my opinion.
Great if you have a Yamaha receiver all the tough stuff is programed. Good graphics to start with for those non programmers,much better than the pronto's starter screens. I like it. Bought a Pronto Pro 6000 two of them blew up on me when reset. Extremely dissappointed. Not much added but memory and color.Thats a lot but not if it dont work and the I had trouble programming it to boot! Thats how I wound up with the Rav 2000

Weaknesses:

No charger regular batteries only. Is about the only thing I can say is really a weakness.

Never had any luck with on line software edit with any brand. Must be me.

Review:

I would recommend it. I like the look and feel better than the regular pronto 2000 which I had. I wont spend 1000 for thr Pro Horrible experiences all of the message boards and first hand.

Have a lot of Hign end equiptment so I am not just a casual user and it seems to be fine for have the price of the flawed Pro with a better look and feel than the pronto 2000 So it a win for me!
